Metal roofing is beginning to become more popular every year. New materials and techniques have made the cost and installation process much more efficient then it was, with materials better able to hold out to the time and elements. Many new roofing companies are pushing metal roofing as the next best building material.
The MetalCon International Convention will be making its way out west to Denver for the first time ever this year, filling the space of Colorado Convention Center, October 1-3. MetalCon bills itself as “The one event for metal construction products, technologies and solutions.”
The annual event typically draws thousands of visitors from across the world, with more than 50 countries represented at last year’s convention. The convention will have hundreds of booths set up for different contractors, educational seminars, speakers, and even a metal roofing olympics where people will compete with each other in installing metal roofing panels.
It will allow many manufacturers and contractors in the Rocky Mtn. Region to reach thousands of potential new customers.
The choice of Denver as the convention site is a reflection of the upswing of jobs in Metro Denver and the entire Rocky Mtn. region. In the past year Denver’s employment growth was more than 1% higher than the national average according to the Denver Economic Development Corp. with natural resources and construction itself having grown 8%.
Most contractors and materials agree that these are signs pointing to a recovering economy and that Denver is an excellent selection for the next convention, David Rowe, Director of Product Management for Englert Inc stated, “We’ve identified the Rockies as one of our seven important regions because of the weather there… Are we looking forward to MetalCon being in our backyard? You bet!”
Some manufacturers are excited about the convention in Denver because it gives them the opportunity to reach a new market, such as Franklin Manufacturing based in Russellville, Alabama. “That’s one of the reasons we wanted to make sure we were at this show,” said Dale Moore of Franklin and added, “I have no doubt that a first time show in Denver will be a good one.”
